About me

Hello, my name is Sam Dehner, and I am a senior at the University of Southern Indiana majoring in Finance with a minor in Management. I am interested in career opportunities that combine finance, sales, and relationship-building because I enjoy working with people while also using problem-solving and business skills. Outside of school, I have experience working in lawn care and landscaping, where I have learned the importance of communication, reliability, customer service, and attention to detail. I am also involved in Tau Kappa Epsilon, which has helped me build leadership, teamwork, and networking skills. I would describe myself as hardworking, dependable, and motivated to keep improving. I enjoy learning new things, taking on challenges, and finding ways to help others. As I move closer to graduation, I am excited to continue developing professionally and pursue opportunities where I can grow, contribute to a team, and build strong relationships with customers and coworkers.

Leadership Characteristics

Here are three ways I show up as a leader in teams, projects, and problem-solving.

Mentorship

I show leadership by mentoring others around me. To me, a mentor is someone who guides, encourages, and supports people when they need advice. I try to lead by example and help others improve by sharing what I have learned. Being a mentor is important because it shows that leaderhship is not about personal success, but also about helping other grow and become better.

Problem Solver

I am also a problem solver because I try to stay calm and focused when challenges come up. Instead of giving up or blaming others, I look for practical solutions and think about the best way to fix the issue. A good leader needs to be able to handle problems, make decisions, and keep moving forward. My ability to solve problems helps me become dependable in group settings, school, work, and future career opportunites.

Team Player

I believe I am a strong team player because I work well with others and understand the importance of communication, cooperation, and trust. I believe a good leader does not just give directions, but also listens to others and helps the group stay focused on the goal. I try to support my teammates by being reliable, staying positive, and doing my part so the whole team can succeed.

Integrity

Integrity represents me because I believe in being honest, trustworthy, and doing the right thing even when no one is watching. In school, work, and leadership situations, integrity is important because people need to know they can count on me to be trustful and dependable. This value helps me build trust with others and shows that I can take responsibility for my actions.

Responsibility

Responsibility represents me because I take my commitments seriously and try to follow throught one what I say I will do. Whether I am working with a teams, completing school assignments, or helping others, I want people to see me as reliable. Being responsible also connects leadership because a good leader is some others can count on.

Growth

Growth represents me because I am always trying to improve and learn from my experiences. I understand that success does not happen all at once, I believe it is important to keep developing my skills over time. This values connects to my future goals because I want to continues becoming a better leader, student, and professional.

Objective

To use my education in Finance and Management from the University of Southern Indiana to build a career in business, finance, or management where I can apply my communication, problem-solving, leadership, and analytical skills. Through my coursework, work experience at Hausmann Outdoor Solutions, and leadership roles in Tau Kappa Epsilon, I have developed a strong work ethic and the ability to work well with others. I am looking to continue growing professionally while contributing to an organization that values teamwork, responsibility, and strong customer relationships.
